A Little Bit About Me
I currently work as a 3D Medical Artist translating scientific data into compelling visuals to better patient care and drive forth scientific research. I graduated with a Master of Science in Biomedical Communications (MScBMC) at the University of Toronto. MScBMC is one of the four internationally accredited programs that provides training for the profession of medical and scientific visualization.
While completing my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, I helped develop an interactive identification key to stink bugs of Ontario. The identification key was published in the “Canadian Journal of Arthropod identification” and was made publicly available to Ontario farmers on the web. I also completed a research thesis on Synanthropic pest drosophilids found in crops and compost in Ontario. Completing my undergraduate thesis was where I was first introduced to the importance of utilizing illustrations as part of the research process. I am greatly interested in new media technologies and would be excited to create model assets for immersive multimedia and serious gaming projects.
My Passions
With pride, I've represented the National kendo team on four occasions, including a recent role as assistant captain for the Canadian Women’s team, securing 3rd place at the 2018 World Kendo Championships (WKC) in Korea.
My journey in kendo has seen remarkable achievements, such as clinching top 16 for individuals at the 2009 WKC in Brazil, and reaching top 8 for teams at both the 2012 WKC in Italy and the 2015 WKC in Japan.
Through my athletic pursuits, I've imbibed invaluable lessons in teamwork. I firmly believe that limitations are merely constructs of the mind, a mantra I apply not only in sports but also in my daily endeavors.
Following my retirement from competitive kendo, I've discovered a new passion in rescuing dogs. Beyond the confines of my professional life, I dedicate my time to fostering and training street dogs, as well as volunteering with Save Our Scruff, a local dog rescue organization in Toronto. Most recently, I participated in a Spay and Neuter campaign in Mexico.
